Black Girl Digital Awards 2024

Rules, Terms and Conditions

All nominations will be submitted by the peers (supporters, agents/managers, brand representatives) of the potential candidates, herein referred to as ‘The People’. Nominees MAY nominate themselves as well. All submitted potential nominees will then be reviewed by the Black Girl Digital Awards team who will ensure each nominee meets the set criteria before being moved into the competition. Once approved the nominees will move into the judges' panel deliberation period, followed by public voting for the top 4 nominees in each category. It is the responsibility of the nominators and Black Girl Digital Awards and affiliates to notify the potential finalists of their entry into this competition.

  • Nomination Period: June 4, 2024 - July 1, 2024
  • Judges Deliberation Period: July 8, 2024 - August 2, 2024
  • Public Voting Period: August 26, 2024  - September 9, 2024

About the Awards:

The Black Girl Digital Awards celebrate and recognize underrepresented content creators who make a significant impact through brand partnerships and community engagement on their platforms. With 40 distinct awards, now including categories for Men and Families, the show showcases a vibrant array of content verticals. The Black Girl Digital Awards is the first award show designed to celebrate the partnerships between Black creators and brands. 

Our submissions are open to all.

The Black Girl Digital Awards are presented by Black Girl Digital, a global influencer marketing agency founded and led by a Black woman, specializing in advancing Black creators forward in the creator economy.

Eligibility:

Any individual (open to all) who actively engages on social media platforms and meets the criteria listed below is eligible for nomination. This includes both self-nominations and nominations of others.

Nomination Criteria:

Nominees must meet the following criteria to be considered for the Black Girl Digital Awards:

  1. All deals must have been contracted between January 1, 2022, through May 31, 2024.
  2. At least one post should be live and posted on a social media platform by May 31, 2024.
  3. The Nominee must be located in the US and Canada (excl. The Best International Brand Partnership of the Year Award)
  4. The Nominee must have a minimum of 5,000+ followers on the nominating platform (i.e 6,000 followers on Instagram)

Best of Brand Partnerships

  1. A minimum of 5+ paid partnerships within the award calendar season (January 1, 2022, to May 31, 2024)
    1. A brand or supporter nominating an influencer is not required to have or know of 5x brand deals with the creator
    2. This qualification is to advance to the Judges' round
    3. Affiliate partnerships qualify
  2. Partnership posts include FTC disclosure guidelines
    1. #AD, #Sponsored, #Partner, #BrandAmbassador
  3. Partnership Post must include brand tag and campaign hashtag

Breakthrough Influencer of the Year

  1. Demonstrated commitment to content creation for over 5 years, OR;
  2. Has seen significant growth on at least 2 platforms within the last 5 years
  3. Engaged in brand partnerships within the last 2 years - A minimum of 5+ paid partnerships within the awards calendar season

Legacy Builder Award

  1. Demonstrated commitment to content creation for over 5 years
  2. A minimum of 1 million followers across at least 2 platforms
  3. Successful transition from content creation to establishing a brand beyond social media
  4. Featured in the Press and the media
  5. Acknowledgement and respect from industry peers
  6. Engaged in brand partnerships within the last 2 years - Min of 5+ paid partnerships within the awards calendar season
  7. Has a positive impact on the Black community within the last 5 years
  8. Has seen significant growth on at least 2 platforms within the last 5 years
  9. Has international reach, beyond the US and North America

Creator Champion

  1. Years in the business
    1. 5+ years in the influencer marketing/public relations industry
  2. Recognition
    1. Featured in the Press and media
    2. Acknowledgement and respect from industry peers
    3. Hold various certifications, awards, and accolades

Top Influencer of the Year - Social Platform

  1. Nominated by the platform and the community

Generational Influencer of the Year

  1. Demonstrated commitment to content creation for over 5 years OR;
  2. Has seen significant growth on any platform within the last 5 years
  3. Engaged in brand partnerships within the last 2 years - A minimum of 5+ paid partnerships within the awards calendar season

Nominee Approval:

Nominations will be reviewed by a panel of judges appointed by the organizing committee. Approved nominees will be notified via email or mail and will move into the public voting round.

Informing a Nominee: The team at the Black Girl Digital Awards along with the nominator will make their best effort to inform the nominee that they are a final nominee prior to the public voting round beginning. If there is no response from the nominee accepting the nomination prior to the public voting rounds, the nominee may be removed from the competition.

Public Voting Round:

Voting Period: The public voting round will take place after the nominee approval process. The voting rounds are as follows:

Free Daily Votes: Anyone with a valid email address can cast one (1) free vote per day for their favorite nominee during the voting period. Voters may not create additional email addresses to vote again within that same day. Those votes will be flagged and disqualified.

Fairness: Nominees may NOT utilize bots, 3rd party voting sites or pay others to vote on their behalf. Any creator who violates these rules will be disqualified. Voting software used to capture votes will flag any unethical votes.

Top 4: The top 4 nominees after the judging deliberation period will move into public voting.

Live Show:

Live Show Details: The live show will be held on November 3, 2024 during the Black Girl Digital Awards event weekend taking place from November 1-3, 2024. The live show and event weekend will be in Atlanta, GA, USA. 

Nominees: Each category’s top nominees will be announced beforehand on social media and our website. 

Winners: Each category’s winner will be announced live at the awards show, on social media, and our website. It is possible that not all winners will be presented with an award on stage but all will be honored during the live show.

*Black Girl Digital and its members have the right to disqualify and remove any nominee at any point from the Black Girl Digital Awards without notice if they deem it appropriate.

The Black Girl Digital Awards aims to celebrate the positivity and creativity fostered by Black social media influencers. It also channels support towards philanthropic endeavors, creating a holistic platform for spreading positivity and making a lasting impact. The Black Girl Digital Awards does not tolerate bullying, harassment or discrimination of any kind.

ADMINISTRATOR; RELEASE; LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

The Black Girl Digital Awards are administered by Black Girl Digital,  which will be entitled to make all final decisions regarding the awards in its sole discretion. Black Girl Digital reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to suspend, cancel or modify the Black Girl Digital Awards or the outcome at any time. By participating in the Black Girl Digital Awards, whether as a nominee, a nominator or otherwise, each participant agrees to release and hold the Black Girl Digital Awards and its employees, officers, directors, shareholders, agents, representatives, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, consultants and legal advisors, harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with the awards, including, without limitation, personal injury, death, and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy. The Black Girl Digital Awards reserves the right to publish all entries wholly or in part, as case studies or for publicity purposes.

PARTICIPANTS AGREE THAT PARTICIPATION IN THE BLACK GIRL DIGITAL AWARDS SHALL BE AT THEIR SOLE RISK. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE BLACK GIRL DIGITAL AWARDS BE LIABLE UNDER CONTRACT, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY, NEGLIGENCE OR OTHER LEGAL THEORY (I) FOR ANY LOST PROFITS OR SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, PUNITIVE OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND WHATSOEVER, SUBSTITUTE GOODS OR SERVICES (HOWEVER ARISING) OR (II) FOR ANY DIRECT DAMAGES IN EXCESS OF (IN THE AGGREGATE) $100. THE FOREGOING LIMITATION OF LIABILITY SHALL APPLY TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW IN THE APPLICABLE JURISDICTION.
NOMINATIONS/VOTING; APPEARANCE RELEASE/RULES

Any and all individuals submitted by a nominator or any other participant in the Black Girl Digital Awards is referred to in these Terms of Service as a “Nominee/Nomination.” Each Nominee shall be solely responsible for his or her own participation and any and all risks of liability that may follow by participating in the Black Girl Digital Awards. A nomination does not guarantee participation in the Black Girl Digital Awards. If selected, great effort will be made to contact a nominee by THE PEOPLE, members, committees, volunteers and representatives of the Black Girl Digital Awards. However, if contact is not possible within the designated nominations period, the nominee may be eliminated and no further extensions will be made. By submitting a Nomination, you are stating that the nomination represents and warrants themselves to the best of your knowledge and fits the category in which they are being nominated under. Once selected and confirmed, each Nominee represents that he or she owns or has the necessary licenses, rights, consents, and permissions to his or her submissions (and all content included therein), including the right to authorize Black Girl Digital Awards to use their content in the manner contemplated herein. By agreeing to participate, the Nominee/s hereby grants us an irrevocable, worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable and transferable license to use to reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, and perform any related content, photos and/or videos in any media formats now or hereafter created and through any media channels now or hereafter created. Finally, by submitting the Nomination, the participant represents and warrants that the submission is not done in violation of any state, federal, or international law or regulation, including, but not limited to, laws regulating personal data protection. Following the Nominations period, the contacted and confirmed nominees may promote their nomination to encourage voters to vote for them through the qualifying rounds.  Black Girl Digital Awards reserves the right to alter, adjust, remove or add any Nominees as they deem necessary at any time during the duration of the nominations and/or voting periods. Nominations will be narrowed down to the top four (4) or top five (5) or fewer and those Nominees will be requested to attend the Black Girl Digital Awards. Polls will open online at www.blackgirldigitalawards.com and online voting will take place to decide one winner from each category. Winners will be announced on stage during the Black Girl Digital Awards. In addition, any person who attends the awards ceremony or any other event associated with the Black Girl Digital Awards hereby grants us the irrevocable, worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free, sublicensable and transferable right to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display and perform any audio recordings, photographs, video or other images in which such person may be included that are taken at such event, whether accurate or distorted in character or form, without restrictions to changes or transformations, in conjunction with such person’s own name or a fictitious name at our discretion, or no name at all. The use of any trademark, service mark or logo such as TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube or any other media platform is not meant to imply such media outlet’s endorsement of, or affiliation, with The Black Girl Digital Awards in any way. We will not tolerate violations of intellectual property rights or copyright infringement. By participating in the Black Girl Digital Awards you are giving Black Girl Digital and its affiliates permission to contact you for anything pertaining to or related to the event or future events, campaign, and marketing.
